Walmart Announces Grand Opening

Posted: Updated:

The new Mandan Walmart will have a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:30 on Wednesday, September 11. The store will add about 300 jobs to the area.

"The opening of a third Walmart Supercenter in the capitol city metro is illustrative of the dynamic growth in the community," says Kelvin Hullet, President of the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce. "The strong economy continues to attract fresh investments and the new Walmart store in Mandan promises a significant boost to the sales tax base of the community."

As part of the store's opening, the Walmart Foundation will award a $50,000 grant to the Ruth Meirs Hospitality House for the purchase of a new vehicle that will be used to transport meals to those in need. In addition, the Walmart Foundation will award a $50,000 grant to AID Inc. for the purchase of a new vehicle that will assist with the collection of charitable donations.

A few days after the store opens, Walmart will celebrate with residents with a Big Family Welcome. On Saturday, Sept. 14, customers can meet store manager Andrew Coppersmith and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. The celebration begins at noon.
