A Carpio man died after his car collided with a semi trailer Thursday afternoon.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old man was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 52 at Donnybrook at about 2:15. A semi, driven by 63-year-old George Schomburg of Tarkio, Missouri, was traveling southbound. The car veered into the southbound lane, sideswiped the semi and drove under its trailer, shearing off the trailer axles. The car then veered into a ditch, throwing the driver from the car.
The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Schomburg was not injured; his truck suffered $30,000 in damages.
