High Speed Chase Ends in Drug Arrest

A man and a woman from Washington state were arrested after they led police on a 40-mile high speed chase along the Montana-North Dakota border.

At around 1:15 on Saturday afternoon, Montana authorities asked for help in stopping a speeding car after it crossed into North Dakota. The pursuit eventually exceeded 100 miles per hour.

McKenzie County deputies chased the car south on U.S. Highway 85 near Alexander, while other deputies set up spike strips near Arnegard. The two suspects surrendered before reaching the spikes.

The driver, Christopher Russell, 33, faces several charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver with aggravating factors and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At the time of the arrest, there was a bench warrant for his arrest from McKenzie County.

The passenger, April Lacey, 31,was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver with aggravating factors and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Both suspects are being held without bond in the McKenzie and Williams County Correction Centers.
