2014 City Budget Reduces Spending

Posted: Updated:

The 2014 City of Minot budget was passed Monday night with an overall reduction.

The second reading of the budget was adopted by city council with an overall mill levee reduction of 1.82. This means the city has reduced spending in some areas. City finance director says she made some spending cuts to ensure low property taxes for residents.

"It was very difficult but I talked with a number of the department heads and we did find some areas where we could either delay purchasing some items or spread it out. There were a few areas that we trimmed completely and those areas will have to be looked at again in the future," says Cindy Hemphill, Minot finance director.
