A new technology may help provide some relief to those with aching feet.
The FootLeveler is a three dimensional imaging machine. And
chiropractors are using it to help patients find the perfect fit.
For some people, the thought of spending a day is someone else's shoes might sound like a relief.
"As chiropractors, we deal with low back pain, mid-back pain, neck pain, knee pain, hip pain, every day," says chiropractor Dr. Dane Heid.
Dr. Heid says combating many of those ailments starts with your feet.
"The feet are one of the best things to keep healthy, because they contact the world throughout the day. You're putting a lot of pressure on there. They're shock absorbers for the body throughout your daily activities. If you keep them healthy, the rest of the body stays healthy."
One step to taking care of your aching feet is to wear insoles. But finding the best fit can be a challenge.
"This is a foot levelers machine. Basically, what it does is it takes an image of your foot, 3D-wise and the pressure point itself. The 3D is important now, because that's brand new. Before, you had to either step in a box or you got an image with a 2D. Now, we have the 3D image, so it allows us to measure how high that arch is or how low it is and go from there," says Dr. Heid.
The machine even shows you how your feet affect your body alignment.
"[It] kind of gives an idea of how the rest of the body is set up and how your knees are. Are they angled in or angled out? And then along with your hips. So, it sets up pretty much everything else in the body," says Dr. Heid.
He says the new software creates better images and provides a better outlook on what the whole body is doing, m aking it easier to provide patients with the right solutions.
It only takes about thirty seconds and the insoles usually arrive within nine days.
Dr. Heid says most insurance plans will allow coverage of up to one pair of custom insoles every year.
