Professional LEGO Builder in Minot

If you remember LEGO blocks you used to like to play with when you were a kid, then you would have had a pretty fun time in Minot yesterday. And, some people have turned that childhood hobby into a professional business.  

Dan Parker, a professional LEGO Builder was in Minot for the first time as part of the Scandinavian Youth Camp, which is in its 13th year.  

The Hostfest in the Schools program is a chance for North Dakota Students to learn about the Scandinavian culture.  Kids can learn to about Viking warriors, mythical trolls and Scandinavian dances.  The students are using LEGOs, created by a Danish company, to build different Scandinavian symbols like Viking ships, shields, and flags.

"The pieces have to be stacked together," says professional LEGO builder, Dan Parker. "You can create whatever you want, but you've got to engage your mind, you've got to use your vision, you've got to use your hands.  So there's that three way triangle going on to create these parts from culture.  A lot of people in our community hear about Hostfest, but may not know what it is all about.  For kids too, they may not know what its all about, but they come to the camp then they get to go and demonstrate their skills at Hostfest and it brings it all together and they get to see what culture means to all kinds of people."
