National Geographic Adventurer of the Year

Posted: Updated:

The national Geographic adventurer of the year made a stop at the Bismarck public library this afternoon.

Jennifer Pharr Davis was there talking to guests about her adventures on the Appalachian Trail. Davis has hiked over 12,000 miles on long distance trails, she has trekked on six continents and currently holds endurance records on three separate trails. Organizers say they are excited for Davis to share her journeys with the community.

"Part of the Bismarck Public Library's vision is to offer information and personal enrichment to everyone and we feel like this is part of that, you can get info not only from books but also from listening to people and I think it will be interesting for the community to hear her speak," says Christine Kujawa

In 2011, Davis became the first female to claim the overall record on the Appalachian Trail.

Before every sporting event it's tradition to sing the national anthem and only those certified can sing it. This summer the International Music Camp partnered with the North Dakota American Legion to certify several campers. One of them is a Bismarck native.
