Ryan Honored as Special Teams Player of the Week

Posted: Updated:

Things are clicking for the Marauder Football team. In the win over Bemidji on Saturday, quarterback Craig Bagnell became the all time passing yardage leader in school history, and the Defense had a seven sacks and held the Beavers to under 300-yards of total offense. Led by Grant Singer. His 14 tackles in the game landed him this weeks conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Another important roll is the Special Teams unit led by senior kicker Tyler Ryan. Ryan added two more touchbacks to his stat sheet which honored him with this week's conference Special Teams Player of the Week award. Not allowing the opponent many options is something he takes pride in.

"I first started to learn how to do kick off with a coach. He said, 'This is your time to shine, this is when you get to show off and everything.' Ever since then, I have taken pride in that. When you get that huge hit, you know it's over for the other guy. He is not going to have a chance to do anything with it," says Ryan.

Singer and Ryan join Elby Pope and Troy Guptill in this season's conference honors. The Marauders host St. Cloud State this Saturday.
