EPA Begins Eleven City Tour

Posted: Updated:

The EPA's intention of regulating carbon emissions has generated plenty of concern in states that use coal to generate power. And now, the agency is holding public information sessions.

The tour started last night and will have eleven public listening sessions in large metropolitan cities. But Representative Kevin Cramer says none of them are in major coal producing areas.

"It's ironic to me that the EPA would put out a rule on new source performance standards relating to carbon emissions and coal plants, and hold listening sessions around the country in 11 different cities and none of those cities are in a state that are one of the top 10 coal producing states in the country," says Cramer.

North Dakota is one of the top 10 producing states in coal production, and number one in the mining of lignite coal.  Mary Cate Mannion will have more tonight at 10.
