Boo at the Zoo in Minot

Posted: Updated:

Even though Halloween is still a few days away, the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot decided to celebrate early.

Two years after the 2011 flood, the Roosevelt Park Zoo got back to hosting their annual Boo at the Zoo event.  It was a chance to kids in the community to get dressed up in their costumes and do some trick or treating at the Zoo.  Over 2000 people turned out in one hour for the event.  There was candy, costumes, hay rides, spooky story time and animal enrichment activities.

"It's really exciting," says Roosevelt Park Zoo GMZS Coordinator, Stacey Kenney. "After coming back from the flood, we were so overcome with support and it was an awesome feeling.  It's great to continually bring those people back.  And it's cool because you see some of the same people you saw everyday bringing their kids to the zoo, or coming with a daycare, to brand new faces that didn't even know we had a zoo.  So, it's really cool to be able to show them that we have something and it's a really good family thing."

Anyone who missed yesterday's event at the Roosevelt Park Zoo will have the chance to visit again in December for their annual Kid's Christmas party.
