Survey Suggests Workers Fake Illness

Posted: Updated:

Teenagers are not the only ones playing hooky these days. A recent Career Builder survey suggests 32 percent of workers are not actually sick when they stay home from work.

Instead of telling their bosses that they can't make it into work because they're not feeling well, they construct the most creative excuses. One worker claimed he got lost on his way in and ended up in another state.

Whether you're one of those people who create a colorful excuse or not, the study recommends always being honest with your employer, because if you get caught in your lie, the penalty could be much worse.
