New Clinic in Dickinson is Ahead of Schedule

Posted: Updated:
Medical care in Dickinson is taking a big step forward. Sanford Health is building a much larger clinic to treat many more patients.

It's an 85 thousand square foot building, and will soon be the largest clinic in North Dakota.
The new facility is more than three times the size of the old one.

"We really feel like our role here in building this new building and bringing in all the new physicians that we're bringing in is being able to reach out to those people and say you will have healthcare-you will be safe," says Sanford doctor, Marc Ricks.

And the clinic will offer plenty of specialty services.

"We will be expanding services, which will include the ambulatory surgery center, which has been needed for a long time," says Sanford Clinic Nurse Manager, Amy Keidt. "We will be doing an infusion center that will include administering chemo therapy. And, walk-in services-there will be extended hours and on the weekends."

Construction for the new Sanford clinic should be finished around January and the keys handed over to Sanford Health in February, which is months ahead of schedule and doctors say they are excited.

"Currently, we share about eight to nine exam rooms," says Ricks. "We're gonna be...you know...20's exam rooms...it's gonna be fantastic. We're gonna be able to see patients a lot more quickly. Less time in the waiting room."

And efficiency is the name of the game for these doctors...

"All the medications will be in an area," says Sanford doctor, Richelle Bautista-Azores. "There's a lot better flow, so we're not running in to each other when we're going to get medications or drawing up immunizations."

Soon the clinic will be providing more efficient and specialty healthcare.

Last year, the City of Minot was able to hand out more than 3 million dollars to community facility groups through the city's sales tax proceeds.Tuesday afternoon, a citizens committee created by Mayor Curt Zimbelman is working to better define exactly what a community facility is. There's been issues in the past dealing with whether or not a specific group or organization is even eligible for a chunk of the sales tax proceeds. “We all know that there are a lot of quality of life needs in our...
