Dickinson Man Sentenced for Trying to Kill His Girlfriend

A Dickinson man who tried to kill his girlfriend will serve five years in prison. Matthew Foxworthy appeared in Stark County Court this week.

In June 2012, Foxworthy choked his girlfriend until she passed out. She sustained permanent injuries.

In July, he pleaded guilty to fleeing on foot and two felony counts of aggravated assault. An attempted murder charge was dropped at the July court appearance as a part of the plea deal.

Foxworthy was sentenced to fifteen years in prison with ten years suspended. He will serve five years, followed by five years supervised probation.
