What's Trending 11/08/2013

Posted: Updated:
This week we have a very special edition of What's Trending. I say this because today we're focusing on North Dakotans doing good things not only for our community but for the world. First, we're going to talk about a pair of sisters very dear to our hearts here at KFYR TV, Tigirlily.

Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh who together make up Tigirlily are campaigning together with Bank of North Dakota's College Planning Center for what they're calling "Dollars for Scholars". They're going on tour across the state but it's up to you to decide which schools they go to. 4 different schools can win a free Tigirlily concert. Check out this YouTube video for all the details.

Also giving back is Hey Ocean right here in Bismarck. This time, their cause benefits the world.

Michelle Kaufman, the owner of Hey Ocean has started selling multiple brands where proceeds from what you buy go towards communities in Uganda, Peru, even towards Ovarian Cancer Research. She says, if she could have her whole store be that way, she would. Check out Krotchet Kids, Seko Sandals, and Ember products sold exclusively at the store to make what you buy a little more special.

"Well in this day and age we go out and buy a lot of things. And very few of those things have meaning. But when you can buy something that you love and be proud to wear and then find some meaning to go along with it, I think that that's just an added bonus." says Kaufman.

Follow them on Twitter, Hey Ocean, or Facebook, Hey Ocean Store, for inside information on their sales and events.

That's What's Trending. Make sure to follow Alyssa on Twitter or "Like" the Country Morning Today Facebook page for more information!
