MSU Freezin' For A Reason

Posted: Updated:

While North Dakota's economy is at the head of the pack compared to the rest of the country, some residents in Minot are still struggling with everyday life.

That's why Minot State University's Student Social Work Organization and Minot Homeless Coalition are teaming up for their 11th annual Freezin' for a Reason Event.  It's a chance for the community to give back to those less-fortunate by donating non-perishable food items and money.  And all of the donations will stay in the Minot community, "Technically someone that's living in a camper, a vehicle, a mini-van is considered homeless.  Right now our homeless rate is higher than the entire state of Minnesota.  I think with the increased numbers of people in our community, the increased rates for rent, housing, and even food and fuel, it puts people in some very precarious situations," said Dionne Spooner, an MSU Student Social Work Organization faculty advisor.

The Freezin' for a Reason event is being held this Saturday from 11:00AM to 7:00PM in the Town and Country Center parking lot here in Minot.
