Sunrise Elementary wanted to make sure that Hannah Miller and her family knew that they were not alone. For weeks, school officials planned an event to show support as the family battled cancer. Teachers, students and faculty all paraded in and out of hallways, around the school, and back to their respective classrooms holding signs and chanting her name. Each grade level even had a specific theme like Hats for Hannah, Hugs for Hannah and Hearts for Hannah.

"It's amazing to see how our little citizens can be so caring and giving. It's pretty emotional," says teacher Laura Vetter.

Each classroom made baskets filled with toys, gifts and trinkets to help Hannah pass the time while she wasn't at school. Sunrise third graders banded together and even held a week long penny war.

"We actually raised almost 900 dollars for her. To put various things in the basket and also end up donating some cash to her too. As well as help with her medical costs. We created a book with hearts and a superhero type ting to go along with our parade," says teacher Brittni Bruenjes.

The third grade heros for hannah  even released purple and pink balloons, her favorite colors, to "lift her spirits." Teachers say what makes this all even more special, because of the re-districting, many of the students have never even met her, but still want to show her their appreciation.

Teacher Laura Vetter is one of the Miller's neighbors. She says the parade is a reminder to never give up.
