Salvation Army Kicks Off Bell Ringing in Williston

Posted: Updated:

The holiday season has finally arrived! The Williston Salvation Army hosted their Kettle-Kick Off at Cash-Wise this evening. The ceremony officially launched the bell-ringing campaign that the Salvation Army is famous for world-wide.

"It's just a time to kick off the kettle season and the holiday season for the Salvation Army. It's our big fundraiser throughout the year where we raise about 20% of our budget and in November and December we'll be out here for about six weeks and this is just the big event to kick it all off" explained Captain Joshua Stansbury of the Williston Salvation Army.

Bell ringers will be located at Cash Wise, Albertsons, Walmart, True Value, JC Penny and Home of Economy. There will also be counter kettles at local gas stations and restaurants.

"The Salvation Army plays a vital role in our community. There's a booming economy, everything is going well, but there's still a lot of people with needs here and we really count on the Salvation Army to monitor that and help meet those needs. So, we're excited today they're having their red kettle kick off, I just encourage people, wherever they are in our community, to donate when they go there" added Mayor Ward Koeser.

The Williston Salvation Army kettle Christmas goal is 250,000 dollars and they need your help! The donations stay local in Williams County.

"When people go to any of those stores we really encourage them to make a big donation. Think of what you might want to give, then double it" said Koeser.

The Salvation Army wants to thank the local businesses and community members for their participation and generosity.
