Sertoma Chapter Brings Light to Christmas in the Park

Posted: Updated:

The lights go on for the first time tonight in Oak Park at 6 p.m. and run through the New Year. Sertoma member Rich Berg says the proceeds from the event go towards speech and hearing events, as well as patriotic events and youth activities.

"Christmas in the Park, I believe, to the Minot community, kind of symbolizes just that, one of those cultural things that we do here," says Berg. "And people come out, and we even had people from, that are not from the community.  It's their first year up here, [they] hear about it and stop by and ask when we're going to start. So, I see it as a pretty important way just for people to celebrate the whole time between Thanksgiving and Christmas and get together."

Christmas in the Park runs from November 29 through January 1 from 6 to 10 p.m. every evening. The cost of each carload is $5.00.
