Knights Will Be Young This Year

Posted: Updated:

There's one big parallel between the Our Redeemer's volleyball and basketball teams this year. The girls. McKensie Popinga and Jen Skees lead the team.

"Definitely after volleyball, I got more comfortable with it [leading]. At the beginning, it was hard because with all the seniors we lost last year, I went from looking up to someone to being somebody that every looked up at. It's gotten easier," Popinga says.

"They're gonna be the girls that we look to, but they're also gonna be the (girls) the other team keys on. I think by motivating these girls to play the best they can I got a few girls that wanna step up. Right now we're battling injuries. If we can get over that hump, get through this Christmas season, get everybody healthy, I think in January things will start to pan out," says coach Kory Nelson.

Our Redeemer's opens its season December 16 at the Sawyer Invite.
