The Beavers will host 18th ranked Minnesota State-Mankato at 7. Fresh off a four win performance at the Moorhead Open, Matt Fetterley is one of the reason Coach Ersland feels that his team is further along than they were at this point last year. Marcus Polak has also performed well so far this year. He was the 165 pound champion at the Jamestown open. With Mankato up next, the Beavers are going up against tradition. Jim Makovsky has built a solid program in his 21 years in charge. Mankato has been in the top 10 in the National Dual Championships from 2005-2011. They won the event in 2008.
"This year, he's kind of going through a rebuilding phase. He decided he needed to change some of the things they were doing. He's got primarily a young lineup. I think he's got one senior in the lineup. Everybody else is freshmen and sophomores but that's deceptive because his freshmen come in and are usually pretty good. His sophomore have been through the battles, and they're going to be very good," Ersland says.
Minot State didn't have a good dual the last time these two teams met. The Beavers lost 54-0 to the Mavericks last year.
