Drug Court Celebrates Tenure

Posted: Updated:

A program that passed 13 years ago continues to change lives and keep people out of prison. Drug Court is celebrating a successful tenure at the Burleigh County Courthouse.

One of the original people pushing for Drug Court legislation was Senator Ron Carlisle. He received the court's Distinguished Service Award for his role in the organization and says the program is a win-win for the community.

"If you have one succeed rather than send someone out east of town a year or two years the person number one but it's a huge cost saving and if we can manage to get somebodys life back in order it pays back spades," says Carlisle.

Community Service Coordinator Nancy Keating received the drug court Partner Award for her work  in providing community service options for the drug court participants.
144 people have successfully completed the drug court.
