Hair Safari Offers Unique Look

Posted: Updated:

There are multiple hair salons in Williston, but Hair Safari might be a little different than most. The store owner came to town a couple years ago without much.

Since the oil boom, many people have come to Williston for new job opportunities whether it be in the fields or in other areas. The main thing they brought with them is their life stories.

"After losing everything in Florida, I had to start all over again," says owner Leticia Ortiz. "I'm a single parent of teenagers. Moved to Williston because my family had already been living here, and I came with my clothes and my children."

The store owner for Hair Safari Leticia Ortiz has been a hair stylist for over 20 years, but when she came to Williston three years ago, she wanted something new. The reason was because she was so disappointed in losing everything that she didn't want to work in the business anymore.

"I started working as a booth renter here in town, and I just decided that this was what I was going to do forever" said Ortiz.

Shortly after, she started Hair Safari where they style your hair, nails and do other treatments. Ortiz says they have high end products shipped from Italy, but the main thing she has offered is opportunities for others to come and succeed.

"I came from Salt Lake City, Utah." Brooke Brown said. "And back in Salt Lake I was a master aesthetician. Just ran a small business and here I was able to flourish and grow my business to what it is," says Brooke Brown.

The master aesthetician Brooke Brown has been working for Leticia for ten months and says she really enjoys the atmosphere. Like her, many of their clientele feel the same way, the real question is what makes Hair Safari a different experience than others.

"We try to be trend setters really hard because that is the only way you can succeed I be different from everyone else," says Ortiz. "We just strive to make sure that our clients look like rockstars on their way out.

Ortiz says she tries to make their clients look like rockstars because her slogan is gotta get wild, and that is what she tries help them do.

Hair Safari is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
