Civil Rights Commission Appoints New Members

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights appointed 14 new members to the committee from North Dakota. The committee plans to examine how fracking in the state is affecting the cost of living for citizens, including increases in traffic congestion and the cost of food and housing near fracking sites.

The Commission appointed:

  • Cheryl Long Feather-Kary, Bismarck
  • Cheryl Bergian, Fargo
  • Marc Bluestone, New Town
  • Sandra Boehler, Fargo
  • Crystal Dueker, Fargo
  • Carol Eve Good Bear, New Town
  • Dr. Robert Herren, Fargo                   
  • Stephanie Johnson, Grand Forks
  • David Lanpher, Fargo
  • David Meier, Dickinson
  • Constance Nelson, Fargo
  • Refugio "Pete" Padilla, Devils Lake
  • Jordan Schuetzle, Grand Forks
  • Mark Tobin, Grand Forks

The committee will meet for the first time on February 12 through teleconference to lay out plans for its spring hearing on fracking.
