Stenehjem Bans Contractors

Posted: Updated:

Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem issued Cease and Desist Orders against two unlicensed contractors.

David Alderman, now living in Montana, was formerly working for Alerman Roofing and Construction and Chad Edward-Johnson, of Michigan, North Dakota, are both ordered to not do business in the state due to misrepresentations and engaging in services without the proper licenses.

Both were required to have a North Dakota contractor's license along with a North Dakota Transient Merchant License.

According to Stenehjem, his Consumer Protection Division initiated an investigation of Alderman Roofing & Construction after receiving a consumer complaint that Alderman had accepted an advance payment of almost $7,000 to repair a roof, but had not purchased supplies or performed the work.

The company was shut down in December 2013.

The division took an interest in Johnson after a homeowner complained his work was not up to code and he ruined carpet in the home.
