Alzheimer Training Sessions Help Caregivers

Posted: Updated:

More than 70 people attended training sessions today to help caregivers and loved ones cope with those affected by Alzheimer Disease and Dementia.

Sponsored by a Bismarck resident whose father suffers from Alzheimer, the training sessions are aiming at educating the public and caregivers about new methods to manage the devastating disease. Members of the North Dakota Alzheimer Association spoke about new findings in the way those affected.

"To look at this disease differently because when we start to think, there is nothing left, and there is so much more and once you start to recognize the the human connection and you teach staff what everything they've been telling us through this word behavior, which is such a bad word in my opinion. We can start to take much, much better care," says Jayne Clairmont, Homecare Company Owner.

There is one more training session tomorrow morning in Room A of the Bismarck Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
