United Tribes Technical College Holds Open House

Posted: Updated:

The United Tribes Technical College held an open house earlier today.

There were educational simulators, free food and the UTTC Thunderbirds even made a special appearance.

The college received more than 18 million dollars in grant money to help improve the educational experience for students.  With that money technical programs like welding and heavy equipment operations received training simulators, allowing students to earn certification in weeks rather than months. College officials were also able funding building a new learning center. This open house was even for those who already have certifications.

"Somebody that's already a welder, you know, we can re-certify people here," says Career & Tech. Education Coordinator, Steve Shepherd. "We can get them more certifications here. Higher certifications. There's some cool things, you know aluminum, and , the sky's the limit."

Students and staff from Food and Nutrition, Electrical Technology, and other programs showcased their teachings by serving food, putting on displays for attendees.
