Bakken Electronix Helps Oil Industry

Posted: Updated:

There are many new companies growing in Williston. One of those is Bakken Electronix. Most people haven't heard about it, but they've been around for two-years and are targeting a certain customer.

Bakken Electronix is an electronic store in Williston. The owner started the company out of his house and has slowly gained enough interest to move into another facility.

"In 2012, I think it was January probably," says the owner of Bakken Electronix Dave Ludwig.  "I actually had back surgery in December, and decided to start doing something different. What I was doing was going a little to hard on the back, so I opened an electronic store up."

Ludwig says when they first opened they ordered one cell phone booster. It worked, and soon they opened the company.

"We've got cell phone boosters which is the increased communications ability out in the oil field," says Ludwig. "We've got satellite asset tracking, which is something new we brought on last month."

They also do cell phone repairs. Some of the repairs are done in house, while others are at a repair center. Since the beginning Ludwig knew the company could be very helpful to the oil industry.

"We talked about it a few years ago, and we realized there was a need in the oil field. In the industry that is moving around here that a lot of guys needed cell phone boosters because the cell phone coverage was maximum like we'd hoped it would be."

Ludwig also works with his father nine-months out of the year.

In the future he plans to get a retail location and maybe hire a sales representative to help with customers.

Dave says they are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
