Lotto Department Celebrates Anniversary With New Terminals

Posted: Updated:

It's been 10-years since the first person was able to buy a lottery ticket in North Dakota.
Since then there have been over $215 million in ticket sales which has generated $56 million for the state's general fund.

There still has not been a powerball winner in the state, but people have collected other winnings, totaling nearly $80 million in the last 10-years.

To help celebrate the anniversary, the State Lotto Department has rolled out new self service lotto machines.

"There will be separate machines that are not located at the till where customers can check out their ticket to see if they won a jackpot. Then they can take it up to the counter to redeem the winnings. I think that is something that will be well received by both the players and the customers as well," says Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem.

There are about 425 terminals throughout the state and began being put into use last month.
