Eighth grade Students go to Scrub Camp

Posted: Updated:

Mercer county eighth-graders are getting a crash course in all things medical.

The University of North Dakota Center for Rural Health hosted a scrub camp at Hazen High School and even gave out scrubs for them to wear. Students got real hands on experience with sutures, draw blood and more.

"We want to have local access, and we want them to understand their friends and neighbors that they work with and play with are having neat, exciting jobs," says Darrold Bertsch a CEO for Sakakawea Medical Center.

The purpose behind the camp is to expose students early to the medical field and help grow the interest as they get older.
