Colorado Hospital May Release McLaughlin Student

Posted: Updated:

One of the McLaughlin students injured in a car accident on Monday may be released from a Colorado hospital today. And another could get out in a few days.

One teacher was already released. But three other students and one teacher will be kept longer for treatment.

Colorado State Patrol says Kyle Henderson lost control of a car carrying another 26-year-old woman and five teens from McLaughlin School near Fort Collins. The roads were icy, but troopers say weather was not the cause of the crash. Now, Henderson faces charges.

Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault  says the accident reminds us how precious our children are.

"We hold heavy hearts for the families who are going through this. And we all pray and hope that it doesn't happen to anybody that we know. And so, the tribe is saddened by this whole incident, and we're looking at ways to show support in any way to the families," says Archambault.

Family members were flown to Colorado and provided lodging by the school.
