Special Olympics Host Polar Plunge

Posted: Updated:

It's not quite warm enough for an outdoor swim, but some Dickinson residents are taking the plunge this weekend for a good cause.

The Area 12 Special Olympics program is hosting its second annual Polar Plunge on Saturday.
So far, 40 people have signed up to jump in the pools at Dan Porter Motors.
The plunge starts at 1 p.m.

Organizers say there will be free food and drinks, and plungers are encouraged to dress in a costume.

"However you want to dress up and plunge into the cold water. So, it's something 'freezin for a reason.' And it's a good reason for Special Olympics," says Ken Stockert of the Area 12 Special Olympics.

It's not too late to register. You just need to raise $75 of sponsorship money, then register either online or at the event.
