Rita Murphy Rewards Students For Reading

Posted: Updated:

A deal is a deal, and Rita Murphy Elementary teachers had to settle up.

In honor of National Reading Month, teachers challenged their students to read over 3,500 books. If they did, they would sit in a dunk booth and give the students a chance to send them home soaking wet.

The students held up their end and the teachers got a soggy send off.

"I'm super excited that they read over 3,500 books it shows me they are engaged in learning and that's why we're here to celebrate. It gets kids excited about coming to school each day," says Rita Murphy Principal Matt Fricke.

The principal says every school has rewards when they challenge their students, it keeps them interested.
