Sinner Begins Campaign

Posted: Updated:
It's a name most North Dakotans know, but this isn't the former governor. It's his son, George B. Sinner.

"I just think that the commitment that the Sinner family has to North Dakota is well known across the state," says District 26 Delegate Bill Anderson.

He received the Democratic-NPL's endorsement this weekend to run for the U.S. House of Representatives.

We have enough politicians in Washington," says U.S. House candidate George Sinner. We need representatives who understand what our farmers, ranchers, business owners and workers are up against."

Sinner's platform highlights his ability to compromise across the aisle. Delegates say they think he'll bring that to Congress.

Even in a sharply divided legislature like North Dakota, where the Republicans held all the cards, he proved himself to be remarkably effective in putting forth some common sense and logical solutions to some of the biggest problems that face North Dakota," says Anderson.

And that's something his father was known for during his time as governor.

"He knows that it's all about the people," says former Governor George A. Sinner. "Government is about taking care of all people, the little ones and the big ones. It isn't any one class of people that's supposed to benefit."

While it helps Sinner to have the wisdom of a former governor, the elder Sinner says he hasn't really given his son any advice on his campaign.

George is very rational, he'll want to do things that are going to work," says George A. Sinner.

Sinner says he's hoping to bring some balance to the U.S. Congress.
