Dickinson Chamber Grows with Community

Posted: Updated:

As Dickinson is growing, its Chamber of Commerce is expanding right along with it.
The Chamber has over 500 members now, and is re-evaluating how it helps businesses in the city.

The chamber's executive director says the growth calls for a more active education program on governmental affairs, as well as, more professional development opportunities. The office is going to hold its "lunch and learn" seminars for businesses more frequently. Ideas for other programs are still in the early stages.

"We are a lot bigger players as a community than we ever have been before. What happens in Dickinson and on the western side of the state affects the state. It affects the country, and so we need to make sure that our business here in this region have a voice on a statewide level when it comes to politics and government and public policy," says Cooper Whitman of the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce.

Whitman says it's been difficult to plan new programs because the chamber still has the same number of staff members, but the office is embracing the challenge.
