Sanford Reaches Bakken with MobileMed Service

Posted: Updated:
For oil field workers who can't get to a doctor, the doctor has to come to the oilfields.

"Being able to provide services that healthcare venue with a mobile component just allows us to better service those folks, those workers, and those businesses," says Sanford Health President, Dr. Craig Lambrecht.

MobileMed is essentially going to be a clinic on wheels. Along with acute care for sore throats, coughs and other illnesses, employees say the service will also provide work-related services.

"Fitting testing for masks, hearing tests, drug screening-physical assessments for what a worker can do or may not be able to do," says Lambrecht.

And operating the MobileMed vehicle doesn't take as much medical staff as you might think.

"We're looking at three or four people including the driver, and the driver will be able to provide services...will be trained as an EMT," says Lambrecht.

There's no doubt there is a lack of easy-access-healthcare for oil workers. So by mobilizing a doctor's office and providing on-site services in a quick and convenient manner will be especially beneficial for those who live where convenient healthcare isn't always an option.
