Health Department Changes Vaccine Requirements

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Health and Public Instruction have made a change in the middle school vaccination requirement.

Students used to be required to receive the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) and the MCV4 (Meningitis) shots before middle school. Now, the department has changed the requirement to all students must have them before entering seventh grade.

Amy Schwartz of the department says that most children in North Dakota are immunized before starting school, and those who are not, are at risk for developing preventable diseases.
