Change of Command at the ND National Guard

Posted: Updated:

A change in leadership took place today for the North Dakota National Guard Army Component Command. As Brigade General David Anderson retired from his career with the North Dakota National Guard, Colonel Robert Fode took a big step forward in his.

In a joint change of command and retirement ceremony, Anderson handed off his duties as Army Component Commander to Fode, which includes overseeing more than 3,300 soldiers. Both men have served more than 30-years with the Guard, and have been deployed to Iraq.

"Col. Fode will do a great job. It's time to move on, and for another person to take the organization forward. I had a great opportunity, but it's a little bittersweet because I'll miss it. I'll miss the people I worked for, I've been very fortunate. I've enjoyed everybody working for the National Guard and every day serving," says Anderson.

Anderson says he was happy he was able to thank his family, friends and co-workers at today's ceremony.
