Police Arrest Teen For Connection In Bonfire Explosion

Posted: Updated:

A Minot teenager is sitting behind bars after a fire explosion left five people hospitalized on April 19.

Police responded to a report of a loud party at 35th Ave. SE. When they arrived they found the party had broken up and a bonfire that had been started was nearly out.

Officers later learned that during the party someone tossed a car shock absorber onto the fire which then exploded, injuring five party goers.

After further investigation, the Ward County Sheriff's Department arrested Weston Mattison, 19, on Wednesday where he is being held in the Ward County Jail pending a court appearance.
