Bismarck Police Remind Residents Of Summer Ordinance

Warmer weather brings a time for rummage sales, open houses and a lot of other events that need signs posted in yards. The Bismarck Police Department would like to remind residents of the ordinance that prohibits placing advertisements or personal signs on buildings, bridges, fence, railings, sidewalks or public property.

The PD also says if you are having a rummage sale that you can put the sign in your own yard, but not on the boulevard, trees, stop signs, light poles, fire hydrants, traffic signals or any other public property.  Another related ordinance states that citizens are not allowed to place flyers on parked cars.

If violated, you could be fined $1,000 or spend 30 days in jail.
