Community Members Lend A Hand In Project Clean City

Posted: Updated:
It's finally starting to feel like Spring outside. Skies are blue, and grass is starting to look more green. But as the this winter's snow melted away, it uncovered a yearly problem in Minot, lots of loose trash in the city.

To help clean up the city and improve the quality of life in Minot, community members turned out Friday for the annual Project Clean City.

The project committee expects volunteers to fill about 1,500 trash bags around the city, that number more than doubles their numbers from previous years. From Highway 52 to Valley St., crews were out all over the city.

“We've got people who are doing major thorough-fares, we've got some folks who are doing their neighborhoods, we've got some businesses who are cleaning up around their area. It all helps and it all gives back to the community and makes the community a better place to live,” says Minot Area Chamber of Commerce President John MacMartin

“We've got seven volunteers from Verendry here. We want to pitch in and help make Minot look it's best. We're trying to pick up the entrance coming in on Highway 52, as you can see in the background there's a lot of garbage, a lot of traffic on the road. First impressions go a mile, and we're just trying to make the first impression pretty good,” says Randy Hauck the assistant general manager for Verendry Electric.

The clean-up continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you're interested in volunteering tomorrow, head over to the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce, sign in and grab some trash bags.
