Battle Of The Badges Kicks Off In Minot

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters and law enforcement officers often work together to keep people safe and out of harms way, but Wednesday, they were competing in a unique way.

To kick-off the summer season of blood donations, the Minot Fire and Police Departments along with United Blood Services are hosting their annual Battle of the Badges blood drive at the Sleep Inn and Suites in Minot.

During the three day blood drive, Team Fire and the Team Law compete against each other, fighting for the most blood donations from people in the community.

At the end of the drive, it's not about who wins or loses, it's about helping fill a great need in the community.

"We hope to see, you know, 100 or so people a day and that's kind of been, you know, what we've seen in the past. So, we always want to build on that obviously as well with the growth going on in the state, the demand for more and more blood and blood products is there too, so we want to try to keep up with that as well,” says Travis Dressler of United Blood Services.

Time is running out, the last day for Battle of the Badges is Thursday from Noon to 7 p.m.
