Minot Discusses FEMA Deadline

Posted: Updated:

Members of the public works and safety committee met today to discuss the June 1st deadline for residents to remove FEMA trailers from their property.

A recent survey showed that 34 temporary housing units still remain on private property. At least 10 people came out to the meeting tonight to voice their concerns and let the committee know that they are not ready to move out yet.

The committee came up with an idea to allow those residents still living in FEMA trailers to submit a letter by June 16th to the City Planning Office, stating how much more time they need. Then an extension could be granted. This will be discussed further at the next city council meeting.
