Hazen is making the most of its first trip ever to the Class B state baseball tournament.
The Bison beat third-seeded Thompson in the opening round yesterday.
That puts Hazen into a semi-final showdown with perennial Class B power Grafton.
Following the Bison victory in the region championship, we asked the team about the progress of the program.
"This started seven years ago with this group of kids and parents who knew there was something special. They wanted to get a program going and they climbed some obstacles and got a program. We had some bumps, but we came through. We're going to state, and it feels great," says head coach Brent Hysjulien.
"I think we are just playing really good baseball and doing what we do best. We practice hard. We play hard, and there's always room for improvement. I think we can do fairly well when we get to the state tournament," says sophomore Mason Wiedrich.
