Sakura Opens In Williston

Posted: Updated:

A new Japanese restaurant opened a couple weeks ago in Williston. It's name is Sakura and they specialize in the art of hibachi.

When someone walks into Sakura for first time, they see the sushi bar where a couple cooks are doing their magic. They're all making different types of sushi for customers and trying to provide a different experience for them.

“It is gorgeous in here,” says Williston resident Amanda Stroud. “It is so pretty. It doesn't feel like you're in Williston anymore.”

“Some of our rig roughneck hands recommended it to us. It got a good recommendation, and we're looking forward to the food," says Ted Morris a Gadeco worker.

The main attraction here is the hibachi experience. People sit down at a table and watch as the chef does some interesting things with their food. They are trying to cook as well as entertain.

“We needed this kind of restaurant in Williston here,” says Jeff Lin, a Sakura investor. "People working in the oil field are really, really tired. In the evening, they can come here and enjoy their dinner, relax, and have a little bit of fun here.”

The location has a lot of room for many to enjoy the atmosphere. After people try it for the first time, they have some advice for others.

“Differently get a seat at the grill and try some sushi because it’s really good,” says Stroud. “ It is really, really good.”

Lin says Sakura is a franchise with locations in the other cities in North Dakota. They felt it was time to open one here.

Lin added he got the design ideas while traveling all over the world.
