Transmission Line Enters Final Stages

Posted: Updated:

Western North Dakota's electricity needs continues to grow, and Basin Electric is in the final stages of approval for a new transmission line.

Basin Electric's transmission line would run from the companies Antelope Valley Power Plant to a substation near Tioga.

Earlier this month, the Public Service Commission issued a permit for the route.

"Based on all the factors that they have evaluated they believe that this is the best route for this project. It provides more reliability, and provides a loop system which will prevent adverse weather like tornadoes, and heavy icing from affecting the people who depend on their electricity up in the Watford City area," says Curt Pearson of Basin Electric.

The line would run through a study area of the Killdeer Battlefield, which has created some discussion.

Before every sporting event it's tradition to sing the national anthem and only those certified can sing it. This summer the International Music Camp partnered with the North Dakota American Legion to certify several campers. One of them is a Bismarck native.
