State Fair Upgrades Continue

Posted: Updated:
The State Fair will kick off in about six weeks, but there's a lot to be done first. Work is underway on a $3.5 million asphalt overlay project, but only half of it will be finished in time for the fair.

The rest will be done afterwards.

"Infrastructure is always important. It's one of those things, where this is a $3.5 million project, and we're not putting up another building, so people don't see necessarily an end result. People don't really get to use it, but it's still money that desperately needs to be spent to maintain your property," says State Fair Assistant Manager Craig Rudland.

Crews are also installing underground fiber optic lines at all of the gates.

The new high speed internet and telecommunication lines will help get visitors through faster.
