Bill Could Help Unmanned Aerial Systems

Unmanned aerial systems could be getting a monetary lift with new legislation. Sen. John Hoeven serves on the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, that passed the FY15 bill funding legislation to support incorporating unmanned systems with manned aircraft.

"The report language provides more flexible to FAA to allow these test centers to manage multiple flights that very important as part of development concurrent air space use, meaning both manned and unmanned aircraft flying in the same air space," says Hoeven.

Grand Forks is one of the test sites for the U.A.S. The bill would provide $4 million for research activities, which would bring the total funding for research efforts to more than $12 million.
