Golf Event Raises Money for Trinity Cancer Center

Pink shirts, hats and golf bags could be seen all over the Souris Valley Golf Course Monday afternoon as more than 100 women stepped onto the green for the 17th annual Building Hope Golf Event.

Flags of hope waved all across the course as groups of women played 18 holes for a good cause.

All of the proceeds from Monday’s event will go towards Trinity's Cancer Care Center in Minot.

From financial assistance to equipment, 100 percent of the proceeds stay local to help fight cancer, one putt at a time.

"It gives me goose bumps when you talk about it just because, you know, to be able to double the size and increase the amount of money we are able to provide to the Cancer Care Center. They have ongoing needs, and it's really important to us that we are able to keep them with the state-of-the-art equipment that they need to provide the best care possible," says Jodi Smith the director of Trinity Health Foundation.

"There are a lot of people that golf this tournament to support the actual cancer research so that there can be a cure at some point. Hopefully, I think that's what we all hope for. It's for a very good cause,” says golfer Kathy Kragh.

One hundred and four golfers were signed up for the scramble, which is about double from last year. There will be a men's golf event on August 4.
