State Receives Federal Funding for Housing

Posted: Updated:

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp announced this week that the state of North Dakota will be receiving more than $7 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The fund go towards affordable housing and homelessness prevention. The money will be allocated to communities through the North Dakota housing and urban development agency. The city of Williston boasts some of the highest rent prices in the nation, and officials hope this funding will help attract families.

"As we continue to work towards building a vibrant, sustainable community, that's one of the real crucial elements. To get families established in the community there has to be housing for them that they can afford," says Caitlyn Beley a Williston economic developer.

Williston is currently the third fastest growing micropolitan city in the nation.
