Main Street Minute: Stella & Dot

Posted: Updated:
You've got it right when you're able to mix your hobby with your career. And that's what one local woman gets to do everyday.

"I decided to take the jump and establish a business for myself,” says Marcela Samson a Stella & Dot Independent Stylist.

That’s what Samson decided to do. Being stay at home mom, she was able to not only balance her family life, but she was able to turn her passion for fashion into a business.

"Stella and Dot's stylists creates their own schedule. So, during the day I can make a few phone calls, and try and find a hostess to have a show because the benefit for the hostess is they earn free jewelry depending on the sales of their show. So, I can do that during the day, during nap time and I can schedule the actual trunk show in the evening when my husband is home to take care of the kids. It's only a few hours, so it works really well,” says Samson.

The basis of the business is to have trunk shows.

"People like to see the jewelry. They like to feel it and try it on,” says Samson.

Stella & Dot offers tons of accessories. Anything from statement necklaces to bags and scarves, but Samson says the best part about her business is it doesn’t even feel like work.

"It’s just a fun hobby,” says Samson.

Samson works from her home. If you're interested in getting a trunk show together or if you would like to learn more about the company you can contact on her Facebook page.
